week 1 ( tuesday );
[So, at some point, if they volunteered beforehand (or, in the case of Lucina and Katara, if Lelouch volunteered them) Lief will have located your character and ask if they're available for a meeting to discuss the food situation. Assuming the answer was a yes, they'll be directed towards the longhouse.
Once everyone is there, he'll begin.]
Thank you, everyone, for volunteering to help. I deeply appreciate it, and I am certain that those who need help will as well.
There are details we need to confirm, though. First, where the food will be kept or how it will be distributed. Second, Lelouch would like to pair everyone off for gathering, unless any of you are unwilling. However, given our situation, he is uncertain as to whether to have rotating groups or not—but he may speak on that himself.
[He pauses.]
Third, if you do not have the skills to gather food but would like to learn, Bellamy and I are willing to teach. [...] And fourth—he and Raven would also like to have a few words with everyone, I believe?
And of course, anyone else who wishes to speak may do so. We are all in this together, after all.
[ooc: Yo, so this is an open mingle, so feel free to top-level/threadjack/etc. as you please—also, even if your character wasn't invited, they're free to crash the party anyway! You're also free to handwave your character being here, etc.]

pairing assignments/questions
Lief has kindly given me your supposed skill sets and proficiencies - some of you may know how to fish, others to gather, and some to hunt. I believe it's in our best interests that we share our knowledge, such that if the worst comes to pass, at the very least, we will not starve.
[ and here he holds up a piece of paper, where he's written preliminary pairing suggestions and his own notes about who should be paired with whom. ]
My suggestion is small groups, to cover as much ground on this island as possible, to know what we can and cannot reap from the island. Smaller groups would be easier to navigate the terrain as well, to keep everyone's safety in mind. [ especially. since. you know. exploring the jungle would not be 100% safe. ] If you have any strong preferences to work with someone, please let me know and I will take your suggestion into consideration.
[ here his eyes flash, because sometimes you gotta lay down the law. ]
Ultimately, my intention is to break us into groups of two or three based on skill set, so that no one team is completely specialised in an area. Ideally, each group will have one person who's willing to learn from the others in their group. There will also be another group responsible for accounting for what we bring back, and to ensure that the food is stored properly in case of contingencies.
[ another pause, and if he was wearing his stupid cape, it would probably flare out dramatically behind him I'm sorry. ]
If you have any questions, best bring them up with me now.
no subject
As discussed, those who prefer not to gather food should be among the group responsible for stocking the food, perhaps. Ideally, however, there would be more than one person.

assholery, because someone has to be an asshole
he speaks up, though. because somebody has to be an asshole. ]
When there's an input, there has to be an output -- otherwise there's a void. If we want this little island society of ours to function smoothly, the people being taught how to survive have to serve some kind of purpose in return.
I say they contribute 25% of the supply they yield to the communal stockpile on a weekly basis. Bear in mind: this is a game designed to separate us. As picturesque as this all is, it's still disgustingly idealistic. How do we ensure that people don't exploit this system? How do we ensure that it doesn't backfire against us?
[ a drag from his cigarette. ]
You might think I'm scum, but I only say this with our best interest in mind.
no subject
So far, those who wish to learn also wish to help in turn. [But they can speak up for themselves on that.] ... And I am aware that this system may be exploited. Food is a valuable commodity. Some may take more than their share, or sabotage may occur, or things like that.
We are here to try and prevent that.
no subject
[ smile ]
Anyway. You make a good point! I think we should probably manage all of our food supplies by a committee, and make all food gathered communal! No personal hunting or gathering allowed. Multiple people should be involved in keeping track of what we've got, so that any one person has less opportunity to lie and hide things! This group can oversee the hunting and gathering parties, too.
[ gestures loosely with a hand, her smile thinning. ]
And this way, there is a group to hold the hunting and gathering parties accountable if something goes missing, and vice versa.

a scolding/fishing lessons ig!!
Alright, listen up. There's no way in hell we're finding a way out of this game if we're all starving to death. We've got over forty people to feed with no weapons and no supplies so nothing—nothing—goes to waste, and we split everything equally, no exceptions. I don't care what your life was like back home.
[Which pretty much covers it, if in an incredibly blunt way, so.]
Anyone else who wants to learn is with me.
no subject
If it seems too strict now, it won't if we start running out of food. If you don't think that's likely, I hope you're right, but I don't plan on finding out. We get everyone who seems willing or able to contribute, and we figure out a system to make sure nobody takes too much.

[It's said tentatively, but she looks determined.]
I want to be of use here, but I don't know very much about surviving on my own.

scouting.
[ Here, she'll wait for a moment, until implicit permission has been granted to speak. Let's assume it happened. ]
Before gathering begins in earnest, I'd like to lead a small scouting group across the island. We don't yet know if there are dangerous areas that ought to be avoided. I think it would be prudent to determine that before we start sending groups in systematically.
[ She looks around, grave and unsmiling as ever. ]
I realise that is a lot to ask. I won't take anyone who does not wish to go. [ Basically, volunteers only. ]

I am willing to go.

slides this summary top level in here really quickly
Essentially, we are all gathered here because we have a vested interest in not starving to death. [ a wry smile. understatement of the century! ] There's an unspoken agreement here that we are willing to at the very least work together to ensure that we have enough food to feed ourselves, although some among us might argue that we are obligated to ensure that no one goes hungry, because no one deserves that.
However, that particular system opens itself for abuse, unless everyone contributes in one way or another. I cannot force anyone to contribute if you are really disinclined to, [ here he sounds bitter, i wonder why ] but everyone has a purpose and if you are able to contribute, frankly, we don't have to worry about not having enough food in our own stores. [ casual shrugs. ] Those who wish contribute - to learn how to hunt or gather or fish, consult Bellamy and Lief, or any of those whom you know are willing to teach you how to contribute to the food stores. Or speak to Akira, if you would like to learn how to craft tools, or to myself if you are unsure of where you would be best suited.
Jacopo mentioned accountability, and I for one agree with him. The least we could do is to put in place measures for when someone eventually decides to betray us. [ he's not stupid, betrayal is 110% possible ] I sincerely hope that no one even considers damaging our food stores - I don't think I need to remind you that a number of us have murder or variations thereof on our profile cards, and starving to death is a painful way to go.
[ another pause. ]
Your own personal stash, what you take from the communal store, is yours to do as you please. Share it with other people not in the group, hoard it for yourself, use it for other purposes - I honestly do not care. What I do care about is that whatever excess that we have stored in case of emergencies does not go missing from where we have stored them. Rest assured that we will be holding people accountable - we being myself, Jacopo and Joshua, at the first instance.
[ his gaze sharpens slightly. ]
Further details can be ironed out as the weeks progress, if we're all not dead by then.
[ listen, he's definitely 100% certain someone's going to crack by the end of the week. ]
no subject
Anyhow, he'll be adding onto Lelouch's speech.]
And as should go without saying, when you request your share of the food, please do so at a reasonable hour. Those of us storing it do not wish to be awakened in the middle of the night; neither do Lelouch and the others, I would believe.
[On a less wry note, though:]
Although I do not doubt that dissent may occur among us, remember that this particular system, at least, is a cooperative effort. No one here— not me, not Lelouch, not Jacopo, not anyone—has the sole right to dictate how it will run. That, too, is something to hold each other accountable for.
[Aka please don't turn this into an island dictatorship, guys.]
